I still can't find the fetal heart. Is it possible that the fetal doppler is faulty?

  1. First, check if the fetal heart monitor has power: Check if the indicator light comes on when you plug in the headphones.
  2. Confirm that the headphone cable is properly connected: After plugging in the headphone cable, run your finger across the surface of the fetal heart monitor a few times. If there's sound, you can confirm that the fetal heart monitor is functioning properly.
  3. Ensure that you are at or beyond 16 weeks of gestation; it can be challenging to find the fetal heart at earlier stages.
  4. Make sure that you have applied enough coupling gel. This ensures that the fetal heart monitor makes good contact with your skin, making it easier to hear the fetal heart sounds.
